KAJANG
Kajang Sub-district has some villages. One of the villages is inhabited by
Ammatoa people.Ammatoa is the name of the village chief and also as name of the
people and their surrounding. Kajang people are sub–ethnic of Makassar who
inhabits a particular area. They are quite isolated from their neighborhood.
The head ‘Ammatoa‘ is considered as a holy person. The Ammatoa respects and
obey their customary laws with a simple pattern of live. For those who are
eager to meet him, must dress in all black; a black shirt and black sarong,
barefoot is much better.
They live harmoniously with the
nature and they do not use modern facilities especially for modern
transportations. That is why cars and the other modern vehicles are forbidden
to come into this area. The meeting ceremony with ‘Ammatoa‘ is a very unique
event.
